that Derek Trucks is really something, isn't he?
There's a youtube with him soloing for the Allman Bros with Warren Haynes.
He has no difficulty holding his own on slide.
More than simply a namesake. He is the Real Deal.

Leo Kottke/ Chris Smither! Man, what a double-header that was! Two of my favorites. I saw Taj Mahal about 10 years ago and I wouldn't miss him if he came around again. My only qualm was he played a very short set. I wanted more! more! more!

The Thunder Bay Blues Festival occurred over the weekend. Saw Kenny Neal, John Nemeth, Roy Rogers, Los Lonely Boys and Robert Cray among others. I haven't been all that impressed with their CDs but Los Lonely Boys were terrific live. Not really blues but great stuff. They have an awesome drummer named Ringo. Cray was strong, as well, although much quieter. Great weather, fine festival.

I met Pete Seeger and his grandson, Tao Rodríquez-Seeger last January and I was their driver for a couple of days during the Ann Arbor folk Festival. Very gracious and engaging.
Bruce Hornsby is a great show.
Hey, I saw that Clapton and Santana back in 1974, too, in Cleveland, Ohio.

I just started listening to Joe Bonamassa this year and now I am a fan. How was his concert? Recommended?

Joe was OUTSTANDING - I was buzzing from that gig for many days afterwards.  The man really can play the guitar, let me tell you.  Long acoustic session in the middle with him and the drummer was jaw-dropping - its hard to do justice in mere words to his ability (he sings pretty well too).  It wasn't a gig where you wanted to really rock out - we were standing at the back just soaking it all in - amazing.  I really can't recommend his live show highly enough.  He is touring the UK again later this year and I will deffo be going to see him again - he's getting pretty popular here, and recently sold out the Albert Hall.  Check his Live from Nowhere in Particular album - it gives a flavour, but you need to see him in the flesh, trust me.
