I made positive comments about my Intelli IMT500 previously, but it is doing my head in just now.  It reads accurately enough, but notoriously makes up the note randomly.  You pretty much need it rigged to a lie detector to be sure if you are tuned in correctly.  It generally calls B F# instead, and often calls E A instead.  No idea why.  (And yes, I do mute the other 5 strings whilst tuning)

It is fine for standard pitch, but dropped tunings seem to be alien to it.

I won a Pocket Pitch clip on tuner here a month or so ago and it works really well.  I think they retail for around 20 bucks.  It's as accurate as my Korg and it has a nice backlight feature that allows you to tune in the dark.  Since getting it, the Korg stays in the case and the Pocket Pitch is always close by.

A great tuner for not that much money.  I would recommend them.

Check the battery my Intellitouch went crazy when the battery was low.

It generally calls B F# instead, and often calls E A instead.

Mine does that too... guess it could be the battery, but I assumed it's picking up one of the overtones instead of the root note (since E is the 5th above A, and F# is the 5th above B).  Either way, tuning the overtone should get the root too

I often get better results (and avoid the issue above) by tuning the 12-fret harmonic instead of just plucking the open string.  The harmonic might be "cleaner" than the open string (limited overtones)?  Not sure, but it works

My AW-2 came over the weekend.  I was very satisfied with the tuner. Worked excellent right out of the box. The backlit display looked pretty cool too.   bigrin

Congrats MikeT, can I ask the cost of these tuners in the US? It's very expensive here in Australia, I probably try and order one from the US, probably cheaper.

That is a good call. Since there wasn't a picture of it here, here's a picture of my Oasis -- works great!

I think one of the coolest things is to be able to tune without hearing the guitar.
When in a jam I can pluck a string just enough to get it vibrating without disturbing anyone.

Hi fongie, I actually purchased mine at http://amazon.com   I believe I paid $29.95. I thought that was reasonably priced.  . Thanks again for the reference.

Just saw this over on the SCGC forum boards, which was a repost from another board, but I thought I would repost it over here as well. Seemed appropriate for this thread - It is a trade in program for a new tuner that Intellitouch is just introducing. Looks like a cool little tuner -

http://www.tuners.com/

________________________________________________________________________

So, send us any Intellitouch tuner, working or not, with $20 and we will send back a new PT10 Intellitouch "Mini" shipping included. How 'bout that?

This will especially help those former Intellitouch users whose PT1 or PT2 are not doing them any good anymore and let them get some value for it.

Send it to our address below. We will send you back a new PT10 Mini the same day we receive your mailing.

Intellitouch Trade In Program
1321 Valwood Parkway, Suite 440
Carrollton, TX 75006

If anyone has questions or comments, please don't hesitate to email us at hello@tuners.com or call us at 800-340-8890.

And, let's all thank ApK for a great idea.

What fun!

Put new battery in, and it is ever so slightly less obscure with its readings, but at least the backlight is REALLLLYYYY bright now!

Liked the idea of tuning the 12th fret harmonic, works VERY well, even with dropped tunings dosn to C.

If anyone in the UK is interested, I still have this on board tuner for sale:

It gets positioned out of the way inside the sound hole.

Good enough mate - no issues. What I particularly like about them is the fact that you leave it on the headstock, and surrounding noise doesn't affect it, which is ideal for gigging.
I don't fancy the idea of pedals - my amp has the functions I need.
