Jim mentioned that this was a beauty.  He was right.  I just got it today.  I love the milky ebony with this dark mahogany.  I can hardly wait to play it more than the 10 minutes I got between work assignments today.

Enjoy the photos....

Outstanding !    Glad you were able to snag a hogtop to go with your Ital. Spruce.    I knew that you were impressed with the sound of the hog when we were on the tour last month.   Nice snag.
And, of course, as usual, excellent pics.   You don't see silking on mahogany very often.

Looks good, Matt! Must be time for us to get together again  :bgrin:.

Beauty!

I smell...GOTM!

Matt, there is a great deal of veriety in the looks of these guitars, but it looks as if you got two of the very best ones.  I am jealous!  The all hog is spectacular.

Can't wait for your verdict on its sound?

Dave, I was thinking the same thing.  Not this weekend, but maybe next.  I will email you.

Thanks everyone on the compliments, yep it sure is a good looking guitar.  I can hardly wait to hear and play it as welll.  I only strummed it for a few minutes, yesterday. I will play it a lot this weekend, and then put fresh strings on both and compare them.  This is my first all mahogany guitar, and it seems to sing much clearer than the others brands I have tried.  I would never had ordered this if I had not heard Tuffy's at the Vancouver Jam.

well, that's a beauty, alright. If I had ordered an F-III, that's the one I would have ordered right there, just like that, with the Mahogany Top & Herringbone.
yeah, just look at all the rippling medullary rays, front and back.  :thumb
Matt, you shoot a mighty fine picture, too, buddy.

Matt,
You and I think alike.  I have #28 LS03HB, and after seeing the pictures of Lynn's, then Jordan's, all-hogs, I went into heat and cobbed one of the extra all-hogs from Jim.  They both arrived Monday, and I'm still in the evaluation phase.  I like the size, and the 12-frets.  It may not be fair to compare the F-III to my JCL-40 and L-05, but it doesn't have the richness of tone and volume of those 2.  I'm not sure what strings came on mine, but I plan to do what others are doing and mount some EJ-16's and see what that does.

My mahogany is pretty nice, but I think yours takes the cake!

Chas.

Matt
I thought you were just being nice in your remarks about the sound of my LS-03MT when we were at the jam last month.  Apparently, you were sincere and liked it enough to go for a second helping of F III.
I've had short periods of time in the past 6 weeks where I wondered if I should have gone witht the hog/spruce instead of all hog.  As soon as I sit down with my hogtop for a couple of songs I forget all about the other options I had and I simply appreciate what I've got.   No doubt that all three versions of this Forum guitar have their distinct tonal attributes.   I'm anxious to hear your thoughts when you've had a chance to compare your two fine examples.

Wow...that guitar looks awesome.  I think its the evil twin brother to my all hog FIII.  Congrats and please post some comparisons between the two FIII guitars that you are lucky enough to own.

I know I'm late to add my compliments to these pics, but that is fine looking. Thanks for sharing.

James

i have to say that's the best looking FIII of all the pictures i've seen posted.  really really good looking.

Man that is just not fair.  I've been able to avoid GAS quite successfully since purchasing my first guitar earlier this summer . . . but you are definitely not making it easy.  That may be the best looking guitar I've seen yet.  Good thing there aren't any left (I guess).

Congratulations!!  Truly gorgeous and I'm sure even better sounding.
