My L-03R has the old narrow 1 11/16" nut width. It's a guitar that has had very little use. The tuners are stamped Larrivee, but have a round tuner button shaft consistent with the Gotoh tuners. A couple on the wound strings get annoyingly tight when the string gets close to pitch.

Is this a common problem with Gotoh tuners ? Any advice on replacements ?

On many tuners, the screw on the tuner knob (which holds the knob on) also controls the relative amount of tension you feel.  Try loosening the screw a little.  This will not allow the post to unwind, because the tuners are designed to hold tension even if the knob is removed entirely

The nut slots could also be cut a bit narrow (or perhaps in a "V" at the bottom of the slot rather than a "U"), causing the strings to bind up a little as they come up to pitch and really get buried down at the bottom of the slot.  A tech can remedy that in a few minutes
