For your viewing pleasure, I have just published a profile on a 1948
Martin 000-28 custom as part of our new guitar database. As always,
improvements, corrections and additional information/ your own
experiences are much appreciated- I'll update the profile citing you
and linking back to you! This is by no means complete a profile, so feel free to add to what I already have.

I can't link pics directly to here so do pop by to: http://guitarbench.com/index.php/2009/02/25/1948-martin-00028-sn104849-guitar-database/ for the full audio/Visual presentation. As always, I present the text
portion of the profile for your consideration- although I do highly
recommend popping by to see the pics!
Warmest regards,
Terence

Here is a nice example of a postwar 00028. It has a narrower 1 11/16" nut and sitka spruce over Brazilian rosewood. This guitar has had some work performed on it listed below. However, it still remains a good example of a post war 00028.

   1. Repairs: Top oversprayed
   2. 2 top cracks [repaired]
   3. Replacement bridge

Thanks for posting this, I like this one.

Hey Terrence
I've been checking out lots of vintage Martins lately, and the mystique that seems to surround them. Thanks for the post - those guitars were special weren't they? It is worth mentioning the fact that it is a 14-fret 000, nowadays the norm seems to be of the 12 fret design.  :thumbsup

Thanks guys-

the vintage Martins are well built, well played guitars and like everything which is held in high regard, it's hard to exactly pinpoint why they are so great!

The original 000 designation was 12 frets but for most of the interwar to pre modern era, it refers to a 14 fret 000 with a short scale length!
