Certainly not screwed on - it could be glued or pressed over a pre-shaped section of the shaft. If I designed it, I guess I would've pressed it over the shaft. It would typically be the same configuration shaft as for a screwed-on design, without the thread. The button is then held in position merely by pressure from the press-fit. These pics are from my SD.

Thanks Zohn - looks like button replacement is not a reasonable option -
SO..... tuner replacement seems to be the answer. Gotoh GGSR is high on my list -
with Waverlys number one on my ' wish list '.
