we have come to the conclusion that the quality surpasses that of Schaller & Gotoh.

What are they smoking? I can tell you that a $35 set of Schaller surpasses Pings in leaps and bounds. Do Pings work? Most of the time, although I have two guitars with a couple faulty machines.

But tuning a guitar with Pings and tuning one with Schaller or Gotoh is a completely different experience, IMO. They may be chrome (since when did that espouse quality?) but they are ecomnomy tuners and sell as such. They feel cheap.

Then again, they love Cleartones, so go figure.
