Here's a 1 minute sound file for the new L-09 CE I received on Tuesday.

http://home.alltel.net/randyric/music/L09CE.mp2

The tune is something I wrote, no title yet.

This is my first recording (ever) thru a Behringer mixer into my laptop using a Shure 57 mic (well my third try). I'm pleased with it, but still need to learn what all the knobs on the mixer do, and I need to get a better sound program for WindowsXP.

Nicely done Randy! God those L's have got balls don't they? I was playing mine today and I'm always amazed at the soulful bottom-end they have. Thanks for sharing man!

Hey, if that's the song-still-in-progress-quickie-recording-setup version, can't wait to hear the finished product!  :-) Them SM-57's are really somethin', huh?

Thanks for the positive comments. The Shure 57 seems to be the guitar mike I want to use, as was recommended in numerous forums. The instrumental piece evolved out of the chords I was trying to put together for a half-written song (with words). Its all flat picked.

Randy. it amazes me how nice the L's sound. You were flatpicking, right? Did you A&B the 09 with the mahogany L's? I played an LV-05 today and it is nice. I've got a OM-03R on lay-a-way, so maybe the "L" will be next.

I didn't a/b the guitar. It was bought from GA over the internet.

The mahogany Larrivees are also great sounding. You can't go wrong.

Do you have it tuned down a step or two? Sounds lower than usual. Just curious...

You mean tuned down one step, right?

As opposed to 1/2 step.

If you were tuned as follows :

  1st - D
  2nd - A
  3rd - F
  4th - C
  5th - G
  6th - D

That would be tuned down one step.

Just curious.

Randy,

What strings and what gauges are you using there?

It has on it the strings from the factory which appear to be Elixir nano lights.
