I noticed that orders are placed via a dealer though, and would it be possible to go an "alternative" route to accommodate a special case?

I'd touch base with Jim at Trinity on these kinds of issues...I'm sure he's been through this before...

I am also interested to hear if this is possible. Since it is being made in BC, it would be a whole lot easier to ship directly to me in Ontario, if, of course, this is possible. Looking forward to hearing.

I'd be keen on the direct shipping as well; I live just a few kilometers away from lyric_girl (combined shipping discount?  Yaaaaaay!... just kidding).  I'd go through the hurdles/trouble/torture of getting it across the border if I had to for something this special, but it would be nice to avoid it if I could.

Breaking News

Just got off the phone with Jim Holler.     Folks, FYI... Jean Larrivee has given a significant contribution towards the Forum Git III. He has to stay in business, so does Jim.

Same specs, standard 03 tuners,    soundhole question must be resolved.

JCL will not do any more artistic surprises or freebees. We were all hoping for that, but today's economy makes it prohibitive.

So,.... hear hear...

Prices will remain the same if we stick with standard 03-soundhole rosette.

Additional $50 for herringbone rosette (no purfling !!! this will be extra 200, we already said NO to 200-short-scale).

We need to VOTE on:     03-Rosette  Same Price;     Herringbone-rosette $50 additional.

Either way, guitar prices will still be well south of 1200 USD.

As soon as we decide the rosette issue, Jim can start taking orders

(starting today, deposits may be received within a 2-week or 4-week period; which will make approx delivery date of mid-March to late-March -   12 weeks to production).

You can email Jim for exact price.

Let's keep this simple.......                    Herringbone or Standard........Can moderator start a POLL thread, Randy please?

I'm assuming a $50 extra will not be a deal breaker for anyone at this point.

ricky

PS - For the Italian upgrade... we're still well within our target prices... given the 15% Larrivee price hike.

Thanks Ricky for the updated news.  There were 3 common features that were reaccuring conversation regarding unique and simple features on this guitar I would like some info on.

What was said about a 3 microdot 12-fret?

What was said about no fret markers?

What was said about no pickguard attached?

Please include pictures so it is clear which we are selecting.  If they are available, it would be good to see the difference between these on MT vs IS.  Does it have to be the same rosette for both IS and MT?  One might look better on one than the other.  BTW, isn't the abalone rosette standard on the 03MT?  GA shows an L-03MT (sapele) with the abalone rosette.  I just thought I would mention it in case it was standard on the 03MT.  Since I am getting IS, I might prefer herringbone, though I need to find a picture to decide.

Thanks.

I would imagine that it would have to be the same rosette for all three wood choices, so not to drive Mr. Larrivee to drink.

Why don't we add our choice of rosette to our order. That way, you don't get folks participating in the poll that aren't ordering? Just a thought.

For what it's worth, I just took two quick snaps of my guitars - two 03s - one that has Herringbone and the other doesn't.

I was just thinking that there may be a different definition of standard depending on which top people were looking at.  If the L-03MT (sapele) at GA is standard, then the standard rosette for MT is abalone.  What is standard for IS may be different.  I don't know and would like to know.

We need to nail down the rosette to get to the final price. We still don't have a final price...although we do have a price range.

I have 19 people on my list.

I am wondering the people on the list should perhaps PM ricky with their preference...

This way people who are not participating in this project aren't able to vote....

Mine is on order, Forum III #2 in the run of ???

DETAILS:

There will be 3 Microdots on the 12th Fret (known forever to forumites as "the mark of Tuffythepug")
There will be no fretmarkers (only on the binding so that none of us get lost on the fretboard)
Ask for pickguard off if it's your preference

Thanks for the pics.  I like the look of the herringbone.  With an even lighter color spruce, it should look very nice.
