Is it possible to make the strings more... taut? I feel like my guitar has TOO much classical influence and it plays like a nylon string classical guitar.

Maybe I just play too hard, but it feels like I can't push down too hard or else the string will slip and slide around under my fingers.

Sounds like the action might be lower than you like it. A luthier could put a new bridge in to raise the action, which will make the strings feel more taught. Madium guage strings will help too.

Actually, I was going to get the bridge lowered 1/32 or 1/16.

I think my hand just sucks. Maybe after another year of playing I won't have this problem.  :D
