Its a little Mic that you clip onto the edge of the sound hole.   You can then plug it into a rack mounted tuner or an electronic tuner like the boss.  Since you clip it on to the sound hole its not as susceptible to back ground noise.  My boss is almost useless if there is any back ground noise.

You do not have to buy the whole tuner and Mic assembly.  I just bought the Mic and use it with the other tuners including my rack mounted strobe.  So far it seems to work pretty good with my acoustics that do not have built in electronics.
