Has anyone here used Meguiar's Deep Crystal Polish(Step 2) and their Scratch X to "gloss" satin finishes? I've done it to a couple of Martins and it turned out great, but I'm curious how it works on a Larrivee. Thanks.

I'm not sure I'll do it because I'm really starting to like the satin look of my 03s, but you never know...

I did a cursory scan through the threads and didn't see anything about it even though I'm sure it's here somewhere.

Thanks, Jeremy. Quite a bit info.

Here's what the UMGF has on it:

This process doesn't include the 0000 steel wool treatment but does mention it as an option.

there's also a thread in the technical FAQ

I "Orsinoized" a L-03R a few years ago and it turned out great!  Will probably do my OM-03-12 soon.

Go for it!

I just did it to my L-03 and it turned out very nice. It took me about 5 hrs. to do including removing the machine heads and doing the headstock also. It isn't be a high gloss finish, more of a semi-gloss but a definite improvement. Actually I think I prefer this over a high gloss.

I used the scratch X and step 2. I emailed tomyoungguitar because I was thinking of using steel wool like it says on his instructions but he replied advising not to because you will possibly see swirl marks with it. Be sure not to leave any glob of the scratch X or polish on the guitar for any amount of time because it will leave a slight mark. Keep working the area  that you are working on so that it doesn't sit for a length of time.

Some instructions state not to use step 2 polish because it may alter the sound of the guitar, however, I didn't notice any difference when I did mine by using it.

I don't regret going this and if I had another satin guitar, it would get the treatment also. :thumb It's not a difficult process, just a little work.
