Hey Y'all,

It appears that the TE concert on July-13 in Oxford (anniston), Alabama is having poor ticket sales. In fact they are having a 2fer sale on tickets at: http://www.greenbriermusicshop.com/

Boohoo. I paid full price for mine!

Anyway, for all you players in the Atlanta or Columbus areas, this is only about an hour drive ( and you gain an hour crossing into the central timezone).

Everybody should buy tickets so this gig doesn't get cancelled due to lack of interest!

Well people will be missing a performance by the best guitarist on the planet IMO. Have fun Randy!

Tommy Emmanuel is trully a guitar wonder. His stage antics were a bit distracting when I was trying watch the finer points of some of his fingering. But everyone loved it.

He had Pete Huttlinger for opening act, and then the two of them did three numbers together to close out the 2-1/2 hour show.

I just caught TE's show for the first time at McCabes in Santa Monica, CA.  He's by far the best solo acoustic guitarist I've ever seen (and I've seen a lot).  There was no trouble selling out the tickets for his two scheduled shows.  In fact, there was so much demand, they added a third show (the one I attended) that also sold out.

Oh man....I was just at McCabes a couple of weeks ago. I didn't see a stage there. Is it in the back?

Yep, it's in the back.  They clear out all the equipment on the floor and replace them with folding chairs for the concert.  For TE, there was probably around 200+ chairs.  You can see the stage at McCabes website here:

To prevent the audience from touching the guitars on the walls, McCabes place wall partitions next to the guitars.  McCabes also has an excellent house sound system.  Better than any guitar shops that hold concerts which I've attended.

I'm going to have to go back there and try out their inventory during regular store hours.

Cool. Westwood Music in LA has a stage a lot like that. Fred left me alone with a couple of nice Collings when I was there last month.
