Clear Pickguards- To Be or Not to Be...or something like that

My personal preference is what I now have on my Larrivée L-03, which is a Tortis pickguard ... not a clear one.    :bgrin:

I ordered a L-09 and specifically asked them to keep the pickguard off.
(Clear pickguards are not an option, I tried) IMHO, it looks to0 cramped
with the pickguard.

No pickguard here.  I play mostly fingerstyle with a thumbpick and don't need one.  Even when I use a pick, I usually have enough control of it not to hit the soundboard.  Then there's the arguement that placing a pickguard dampens the sound due to the limiting vibration of the soundboard ... don't know if I buy into it, but I do really like the look of the wood ~ especially on the recent OM-03-12 bearclaw that I picked up.
