I have an OM built in '96.  It has the Larrivée Schaller type tuners on it which I assume are Pings.  I thought there was a Gotoh open back replacement tuner that dropped in with no mods.  Anyone know of these?  Model?  What size bushings.?

Thanks.

Hi Zork,

I don't believe there are any open back tuners that are direct drop-ins.  If your current tuners are indeed the Larrivee branded pings, then you'll need to fill the existing angled holes and drill two new holes per tuner for the open backs.  I know it sounds like trouble, but it's really not too bad.  As for the bushings, you'll need conversion hex bushings that stewmac carries.

Hope that helps.

Hole size is smaller for open back tuners. 1/4 inch vs 10mm on average. The bushings are press fit on vintage open back tuners and threaded on schaller, grover, etc. There may be conversion bushings available from Stew Mac ? to allow retrofitting the larger hole for a 1/4 shaft tuner.
