Is there a microphone you would recommend for someone with a Johnny Cash type of voice that would work for well for both recording and playing live. I will play live in several venues? Some of the venues resemble concerts, coffee houses and churches.
I play guitar and accompany myself with an Emerald Opus 30X (LR-Baggs B-Band) and a CA Legacy Vintage Fishman Prefix Pro-blend. I plan on using a Mackie SRM450 powered speaker.
The cost is important but I will wait until I can afford the equipment I need.

Get a decent dynamic for live and and something substantially better for recording.

Live possibilities _ Shure SM 58 or 59 or one of their "Beta" series mics.  Lots of others out there, too.  Dynamics will work when damn near anything else fails and reliability is key for live gigs.

recording - Check out the Audio technica LD condensers.  Again lots of others out there.  don't be afraid to buy used as long as you can return anything that doesn't work properly.  Most of all - don't cheap out.  You end up buying everything twice that way
