I"ve been a Prine fan since his beginnings, great creative artist. I'd be interested in the set list and story? Jason Wilber makes it look so easy, he plays several instruments.

Here's the set list...

1. Spanish Pipe Dream
2. Picture Show
3. Speed of the Sound of Longing
4. Far From Me
5. Grandpa was a Carpenter
6. Souvenirs
7. Fish and Whistle
8. Glory of True Love
9. Crazy as a Loon
10. Taking a Walk
11. Angel From Montgomery(intro played by Jason on Mandolin)
12. Long Monday(started solo portion of show)
13. Dear Abby
14. Jesus, The Missing Years
15. Please Don't Bury Me
16. Sam Stone (bass player came in for this one; bowing the upright--quite moving)
17. Bear Creek Blues(full band back on stage)
18. That's All Right By Me(not certain of this title)
19. She is My Everything
20. Ain't Hurtin' Nobody
21. Hello in There
22. Lake Marie
23. People Putting People Down
(thank you for being such a great audience, etc. standing ovation, bows etc...)
ENCORE
24. Illegal Smile
25. Sweet Revenge
26. Paradise
the show was completely sold out. i am so glad i bought tickets moments after they went on sale. 2nd row center orchestra...the ushers were funny, "oh! you're way down there..."

and the story

the stage handswere getting the instruments in place on stage. seeing how good i am at identifying the guitars as they are brought in...
first a blonde jumbo Gibson Hummingbird. then a Martin. i'm thinking it's a D-28(like mine) but not 100% certain. The G&L Fenders were on stage already...the upright and electric bass too, though i have no idea what they were--the electric was beautiful.

i don't recall which guitar John Prine started with, but i wasn't crazy about the sound from the jumbo. was kinda disappointed too, because i have always been really drawn to that particular Gibson--on my somedaydreamerGASlist--but it was very kachingy--really bright--'could been the strings...anyway there is a really cool story i am working my way around to...i promise...

after a few songs with the Martin, Prine tells us he was on tour, a gig in Kalamazoo(fun word to type), MI. the Martin D-28 he bought brand new in 1967 fell down and broke it's neck. it's in the guitar hospital....then he smiles this big huge enormously buck toothed smile and says, "and this is Steve Goodman's guitar."

it was a wonderful moment.

Thanks Littelfingers, I enjoyed that, Prine and Goodman were good friends, he does a few somgs by Goodman and never fails to mention his name. I never saw Goodman but I've heard he was good.

oh...and in Illegal Smile the judge's name was...Gonzoles. lots of laughs from the house on that one.
