Orsino, have you played a striped ebony B/S guitar? I was wondering what your impression of it is. You'll recall that's what my Breedlove is, with spruce top.

It's pretty....it's darker in color (visual, I mean) than my blackwood. Sound wise, the comparison for me would be hard to explain, as there's other differences between my blackwood and my striped ebony. (Maker, top material, Dred vs OMC.....you get the idea).

Giggler,
No I have not had the pleasure. But ricks has an ebony b/s Goodall and I'm only a couple of hours from him. Trouble is, I'll play the dang thing and then HAVE to have one too. Well, maybe he'll just let me play it a couple of times a year. B)

FWIW, I found the Ebony to be somewhat Rosewood like in tone, very dark sounding but at the same time it was clearer and cleaner sounding than my rosewood CJ.  Heavy wood also, same guitar was noticably heavier.
Alas, the Ebony is gone Tom.  I traded it even for my Koa Goodall CJ.  BTW, mine was not as figured and striped as the one in the pics.

 Did I understand that right, the ebony sounds sort of like a 'darker' rosewood? Does that mean more bass and low end?
