I've never seen or heard a Tacoma, but they look very nice. If I can find one to check out, I'd be very interested. All solid woods, for one thing. That's a good start.

Thanks everyone for all your suggestions.

As much as I like my Martin and Larrivee guitars, I think I would have to consider a Takamine for a 2nd guitar for gigs.  They have a solid build with good electronics.  I don't own one, but the TAN76 or TAN77 are nice guitars and the couple I've tried played well.   I do own a TAK TC132SC nylon string model with their cool tube preamp which has a nice warm sound that is easy to EQ.   I've also tried another steel string (can't remember which model) that had their CT4BII preamp.  It too produced a nice sound as I recall.  Glenn Frey, Bon Jovi and a number of other pro's use TAK's so they must tour well.

I can spend around 5 bills.

Sounds like someone needs an older satin sitka/hog parlor (doesn't everyone?)

You could gloss it up so it wouldn't be "swooshy" when you play live. It has the added bonus of easy portability, too.

Actually, I just booked a whole pile of gigs and I'll be playing 3 venues on St. Patty's day (big money day) so my new guitar fund just got a lot bigger. Now maybe we'll see about that new LV-05 cutaway.

Still would like to check out the Tacomas, Garrisons and others mentioned that I've never seen.
