Here's pics of my Martin SPJC-16RE... wonder if you guys can tell if it's bone saddle or atleast not plastic or Tusq. Also how do you know if your action is too low. While I have no buzz for some reason I feel it's not resonant or loud or enough by finger playing.

I think Martin uses Tusq for the 16 series today but I remember my OM-15 had a micarta saddle and to my recollection, it looked more like bone than Tusq does.  I'm not sure but I think they used to use micarta for 16 series saddles as well.

Denis - I think you are right! If Micarta looks like bone I bet you this is Micarta! I just don't want to upgrade it if it's already bone and I am the second owner. What do you think upgrading it to bone will do and are there different kinds that do different things? I've looked at Colosi's site and that's great information but just wondering in your personal experience.

On my OM-15, the saddle lloked like bone, with kindo a cream colour, but when you took the sadle out, you could tell it was micarta(plastic).
