Clear Pickguard Removal on Older Larrivee?

Just got a sweet LSV-05 (Thanks Rob!) and I'm not a fan of the clear rectangular pickguards that the Larry's used to come with.  The one on my L-03R just came right off, no problem, but it was only a few months old.  This one is thicker, and is really stuck on there.  I'm a little leary to just rip the thing off because I don't want to damage the top underneath.

Anyone taken one of these thicker ones off that's had a few years to "settle in"?  And if so, how'd you get it off?  Thanks

Do the same thing as the 03, but this time apply heat from a hair dryer and go slowly.
