What is a Reverse Delay pedal?

Never heard of this. What does it do/sound like?

Think of the "backwards guitar" sound effect on lots of late-'60s records (e.g. the Beatles' "Tomorrow Never Knows").  In those days, they literally had to turn the tape around to get that effect.  But now a reverse-delay pedal lets you do that yourself onstage, in real time.

Of course getting the timing and notes right can still be a bit tricky....

Hendrix's brain was so tuned into his music that he could record his guitar solo so that it perfectly fit when played backwards.  In other words, he could hear the solo backwards in his mind and play it to fit while the tape was rolling forward.
