HELP! Low fret causing buzz

Hello Larrivee Forum members,

I have a 000-50 Larrivee that's two years old and I'm getting buzzing from one fret which is definitely lower than the rest. Anybody with experience lifting a fret? Or should I bite the bullet and off to the repair shop?

Bring it to the shop,your going to need a fret dressing.Lifting a fret never works and in general pisses your guitar off.

I put some light strings on my forumII yesterday and it fixed the buzzing (mostly)
lighter strings

Actually lighter strings will buzz more.  It's probably less apparent because the volume has gone down from the heavier strings.

Unclrob's right ... you're going to need to have your frets dressed.

Well if rest of your frets are fine (i.e. not worn down), wouldn't it be quicker to just replace that single defective one, and match that to the rest instead of having to redress the entire thing.

Besides once you redress your frets, the playability is not the same, and you may have to lower your nut and saddle just a bit.  I have an Hagstrom Viking that's actually hard to play because the previous owner have obviously dress his frets one too many times.  (yeah I need a refret, but I dont use it much and I am cheap).

Yes it seems the thing to do would to be just replace the one fret!

The problem with replacing one fret or six is that you have to dress the new frets down to the old one's.A good tech can dress your frets without it feeling too different.The object is to not rip the frets down but to finess them with a nice smooth..........sorry too much info........ :GRN>
