Right now I'm using D'addario phosphor lights on both my parlor and my L-03R. Yes, I've heard the many positive comments on mediums for parlors, and I'm waiting for my next set up before switching to medium. I've tried John Pearse on my L, and, quite frankly, it sounded like crap. Any strings that stand out with an L-03R?

OM19 = EJ19's  / DADGAD
D18 = EJ17's / standard tuning
Martin 12 fret D = Markely Alchmey med's / low C
Guild F20 = EJ16's / standard tunning as well
Dobro = Peirce Reso
Gibby B45-12 =  Martin light's

Just restrung the first 4 of them this morning..... 12 string can wait for another week ;-)

Ta,

d.

D'Addario EJ-12s (13-56) on my L-09.

I bought a 10 or 12 pack of Martin MSP4100 phosphor bronze 12-54 lights
and put them on everything ,and ,..... if it doesn't sound good, I sell the guitar  :WNK>

I just put them on my OM-03 and D28, and they sound really nice :)

The best sounding strings for me are either Martin 4200 PB Mediums or Newtone Mediums, with Elixir Nano's in 2nd place. However I tend to end up with Elixirs on all my acoustics because of the added mileage I get out of them, they last longer than Martins and Newtones combined.

I've used Dean Marklet Vintage Bronze for 30 years or more.14-58,this is a set I put together myself.

Do you OM owner think that Bluegrass strings are the best to put on a OM??

I've got a OM-03R on order and I was just wondering what most of ya are using?? I usually use DR strings and I've always been happy, BUT I use D'Addarios on ALL my electrics. I'm new to the acoustic world SO I don't know much about acoustic strings. I bought the DR RPM12/56 Bluegrass Set (greenbox) on the advice of a friend when I got my Junker acoustic a couple months ago and I was really impressed, BUT that guitar is a Dreadnought. So I figured that the OM would need a different type string.

I put in my vote for Pyramid.  I think I may be the only one on the forum who uses these, but maybe if i'm persist I can get a few converts.  Try Pyramid Premium Bronze strings!!!  You'll never go back.

Newtone Phos Bronze, 12-56. (I do most stuff in low C or open D tunings).
Also enjoying D'add EJs.
Not really played many others, although I can't stand the Elixir's I've tried. Got some Cleartones to try next.

My favorites were D'Addario EJ16 lights, .012 - .053. But when I went shopping for strings yesterday the store was out of those. They had Martin Clapton's Choice lights, .012 - .054. I bought a set of those just to check them out and I have to say that these strings sound fantastic. They are my new favorites. They sound like the D'Addario EJ16s only more so. Clean, clear, crisp, bell-like, mega-sustain but also with a warmth to their tone. But that could have something to do with my new OM-03R too.  :WNK>

I've seen ALOT of people talk about 80/20 strings and I've tried to find out about them, BUT a TON of companys make 80/20 strings. SO my question for you is " What the hell are 80/20's?"

and what company is everybody talking about that makes them?? They seem to be a real fan favorite??

When I'm talkin' 80/20, I mean D'Addario.  I use EJ-12 (Medium) on my L-09.
I now have 12 Fret NewTone Custom Light on my Miller, but I suspect I'll return to D'Addario EJ-11 (Light).

Tho', now that you mention it, I believe I have seen other brands w/ the 80/20 moniker.  Seen no need to try them, tho'.
I so dislike restringing, and don't much care for the fresh string sound, so I tend not to experiment much in this area.
(I only tried the NewTone's 'cause Grant & Dave (12th Fret) were so keen on them.  Much as I have a Baggs iMix in my L09
'cause that was what Dave recommended.)

Cheers.
