I just discovered the Larrivee forum.  I am the new proud owner of a D10E.  I only discovered Larrivees recently.  I was close to buying a Martin when I picked up a Larrivee.  Needless to say, I was blown away, and began looking for the Larrivee that best suited me.  I absolutely love the D10, it is such a great sounding guitar.  Has the easy playability of a fingerstyle guitar, but can still project when strummed.  Came equipped with light Elixers, which sound great, but I will probably change to mediums when these wear out.  Any advice?

welcome 247hoopsfan;

Congrats on landing a D-10. They are great sounding guitars....

After years of preferring PB strings, I've lately come to appreciate 80/20's. I can highly recommend D'Addario EXP12s which are coated, medium, 80/20's. last a long time -sound good ...

do you like donuts?

Welcome to the forum Hoops!  Nice guitar.  Go for the mediums.  There's a good bunch of folks here.  I'm all out of donuts, so here:

Congratulations and welcome to the Larrivee forum family here! I, too, was blown away by the Larrivee sound back in '97 when I first played one (a D-03)! I still love their unique sound that, I feel, is better than many of the other brands out there.

Not too big on donuts, but big on basketball.  Basketball and guitars are my two diversions from the stress of life.  I actually use D'addario strings on my other guitars, and plan on using mediums on the D10.  I stopped by a Guitar Center today- they are moving and having "clearance sale."  Picked up a Martin D45, marked down from $6699 to $5599.  I can honestly say it couldn't touch my D10.  I just wanted to see what a $6000 guitar was like.  I kind of feel like I should just have a Martin in my collection, but I think I will stick with Larrivees.  The 00028 Clapton sounds nice, but when I fingerpick my D10 it still sounds better to my ear.  I haven't ever played OM Larrivees, so I guess that is one to look for.

All my friends that have seen my D10 say its the prettiest guitar they have ever seen.  Who am I to argue?

OK,I will try to post pics.  I might need my techno-savvy kids to help.  Hey LP67, do you own a Krispy Kreme, or what?  Those donuts look mighty good , even to a health-conscious hoopster like me!

This is a great forum by the way.  Now I have to divide my time between this and benzworld.org, my other favorite forum.  If any of you guitar guys have Mercedes, this is a great forum.  Lots of help for DIY nuts like me.

Ronmac, wow 565K on the diesel.  Amazing.  I had a 84 300D and put 225k on it till it got hit and totaled.  Currently have and 88 300E with only 190k on it, and a 98 E320 with 55k.  Have 2 300CE coupes in the fam as well, my son's cars (although I did pay for one, so I get driving rights).  The old benzes ar built better.  Go for a million miles!  Plus, they are safe, sturdy transporters for our Larrivees!
