Yeah, that definitely was interesting and eye-opening. In a way it sounded a lot like my Takamine.

I just goes to show that those old Japanese plywood boxes are good guitars in the right hands. 

(you're not stopping my GAS for a Larrivee though!)

NFS! The owner is very happy with it.

He broke a string before our recording session on Tuesday so I let him try out my acoustics. He had never played, or even knew of, any of the guitar brands so it was fun to see him try them all out with a completely unbiased view. He was quick to reject some and lingered over a few others while he was trying to find one that "felt" right. I wished I had recorded the process. It would have been a good study in selecting an instrument by tone and playability, rather than by brand image.

He settled on using the Bourgeois for laying down a few more rythym tracks. The L10 was a close second. He loved both guitars and wants to use my guitars for the rest of his album.

I hope he doesn't look back several years from now and see me as the one that put him on the road to GAS.

That was absolutely brilliant, highly entertaining, and worthy of a 'sticky' thread when string wars or wood wars or nut wars or saddle wars or opening up wars or ___ wars spring up on the forum.

The fact of the matter is that it is nearly impossible to do a proper double-blind A/B subjective test (many times since the strings on A have more age to them than the strings on B), let alone guess a single trait based on a recording.

Kudos to you for the great recording technique.

It was entertaining, for me at least.

I have seen many great artists playing instruments that would be deemed not worthy of quite a few bedroom pickers. I'll put my money on man, over machine, any day.
