I was leaning towards purchasing Ernie Ball Musicman Steve Morse and Sillouette guitars when I came across Melancon guitars.

Any thoughts on Melancon guitars? How do they compare to Musicman guitars???

Musicman guitars cost roughly $1200-$2000* depending on the model and options.

Melancon guitars seem to run $1500-2500* depening on options.

*prices are ROUGH estimates and can vary greatly.

I would love to test drive them, but not possible due to my location at the moment.

any insights or comments would be greatly appreciated.

THanks, David

Melancon are completely handmade by Gerard Melancon. Gerard seems to have the ability to build in Mojo.
Every one of his guitars feels like a well broken in old friend.
A great builder!

Melancons are hand built, and as such don't directly compare to Musicman.  Also, in your price range there are other hand built or low volume produced guitars that you may want to try.  Time for a road trip?

There is always Tom Anderson and John Suhr.  Anderson's have many unique features like stainless steel frets and a new neck joint.  Suhr has a Fender vibe.  Also, Don Grosh builds an excellent product.
