congrats randy, glad somebody believed a Zebrawood Larrivee wasn't a joke :GRN>

I wasn't 100% sure. I talked to the seller on the telephone for a while before making the purchase.

I should have it later today and verify its realness. Hopefully I don't have to play the same game of tag with Fedex I did on the parlor I received last week.  :GRN>

Well. the zebrawood is here!! She's as beautiful as the pictures and then some.

The neck plays smooth, its not quite as thick as a current neck.

I haven't changed out the strings, there appear to be some used Elixir lights on it right now, but they don't sound too bad, so I've left them on for the moment.

The sound... not quite a rosewood, not quite a mahogany. Its has a nice woody sound, but not quite as much as mahogany. Not the ring of brazilian. Almost like a good koa, but not quite as melodic. Medium on the sustain. Just a little different all around. I almost think it has a western C&W kind of sound to it, or thats what I had on my mind when I sat down to play it.

I tried recording into my laptop soundcard thru a Behringer with a SH57 and the amount of background noise is excessive.

I don't recall it being this bad previously. It must be the way I have things configured.

The zebrawood really has a good mellow tone to it. Not as many overtones as most EIR or braz. Sweet, but not quite the same as koa.
