Title: PA needed
Post by: dhill on June 27, 2005, 11:15:41 AM
I need a basic 4 channel pa system to use at the occassional outdoor party. Any suggestions for me on where to look or what to buy?

There was a similar post recently.  I referred him/her to this...

I don't know how much you wanted to spend.  Also, I don't have one of these systems myself, but I've heard and read a lot of good stuff in terms of quality for the $$$.

I bought a Fender Passport PD250. Great for just the thing you're talking about.

Yamaha have an amazing small package system out right now.

Just ordered one for the office to be used for public presentations and conventions.

Hmmm, all good suggestions. The Yamaha looks nice, but a bit more than I was hoping to spend. The Passport is also interesting, but over my mind set $400 budget. I have a Carvin t-bolt kit guitar, and I really like it, as well as their "no middle man" business model. Their system would be in the running. I went to my local shop and they were pushing Crate systems, one as low as $299 (new on ebay for $199). Think I'll chew this over a bit. My normal inclination is to spend a bit more, being a believer in getting what you pay for. But the reality is that this system will no doubt end up in the barn with the kids. Do I need to overspend for that??!!...

These are well-below your price range.  I can't speak for quality, but you may want to give them a look...
