Title: David Gray
Post by: ODogg on March 09, 2004, 02:48:56 PM
I think David plays a C-09e, but I've never seen one.  I'm new to Larrivee, so I'll post this pic.  the pics of c-09's that I found on google wre different (the cutaway was more severe.)  Is this due to age?  I can't tell if this is even a Larrivee, but it seems that the logo is similar (althought slightly different.)  Anyway, if anyone can shed some light on this, it would be appreciated.

(By the way, this a photo from his show at the Palace Theater in Louisville, KY in 2003.  It seats about 2000 and is an unbelievable venue.  It was like a private show.  If you are so inclined, check out the gallery at the Palace's website.  http://www.louisvillepalace.com (http://www.louisvillepalace.com) )

Odogg,

It's definitely a Lowden. Looks like an 035 (cedar top)

Good call, ronmac.

I don't know much about them.  Upon further investigation, I found out that it may be a Lowden 0-25.

As an aside, here are David's other guitars:

Martin D-42
Guild Thin Body Acoustic
Takamine EAN 15-C
Martin 000-16 (1961)
Larrivee C-09e

No pics of him playing the Larrivee.  Thanks for clearing that up!

I like Lowden's and I like David Gray.  I don't have one of his cd's, but the stuff I've heard on the radio sounds great.  Very strong voice.  His story of stardom is pretty cool as well. Apparently he had recorded an album....it flopped....he got dropped by his label and it was pretty much over for him.  Then he and some friends got together and recorded some music in his home....just for kicks.  It somehow made it's way to some label-heads and the song "Babylon" raised some eyebrows.....the rest is history. Egg on the face of the label who dropped him! Funny how creative people can be when the pressure is off!

I have "A Century Ends" and "Sell Sell Sell."

I really like David Gray.  The perfect combination of a voice and guitar talent, melancholy songwriting and upbeat rhythm.
