Well now....is that a political statement? I wouldn't mind owning one.

Why does everything that celebrates America need to be so LOUD?   :bgrin:
Canada got a classy model with little maple leaves.  I know many would love a tasteful, wind-blown US flag inlay on the headstock, eagle inlays as the fret markers.  Not that I'm bashing.  I know that's a classic design and I'm sure those bright models will sell quickly and be appreciated.  I'd just love to see someone make a US pride guitar that was artistic and not over the top.

Canadians get to feel all smug about their country. Americans get to feel proud of their country.   :cheers

I think maybe Mr. Walkerman should give some context regarding the photo.
A photo with no context.... hmmm.

Looks like 14 red, white and blue L bodies. I wouldn't buy one but I'm a smug Canadian. I thinks it's a great marketing idea having lived in the US, however.

there's a back story here, and eventually the pundits in the know will divulge.....

No reason for them not to sound good. Larrivee L bodies, after all.

usually around certain "models" discussion goes towards sound....not in this case.... :beer

That is an assumption.  When I look at those, I see the streets of Bakersfield .......
Alternatively, JCL is French Canadian, and those guitars look a lot like the French flag.  besides, i believe they are China bound

To me they don't, simply because that style has been done as the US flag on guitars many times before.  You'd leave a lot of people scratching their heads if you showed them that and said it was French because we've seen it as Americana for decades now.

Well, if they're headed to France, some here can breathe a sigh of relief! (Personally, I don't care - no one's forcing me to buy/play one...)

:cop:  << Can your guitar do this when you spin it around?

Whoa horsey!

couple things of note.
Just because Jean is "french" Canadian-( and only HE can make that claim btw) does not mean an immediate connection to France.
That's a wee bit of an issue regarding our culture.

Also, the Flag of France ( unless those guitars are lefties) in fact does have the same colours, however,  the red & the blue would be reversed- if they were destined for France.

I re-iterate, the OP has posted this picture, with, or with-out the back story, and this thread, could have him, and Jean chuckling at our expense.

Ya just never know about these things......

Yup I just marked the originating comment as another example of thinking you know something when you really don't - sometimes a little knowledge is dangerous.. For our American friends it would be like equating English speaking Americans to England  whether their forefathers did or didn't come from there

I was simply commenting on assumptions.  Personally, I think of it more as a tribute to the man from Bakersfield than as a patriotic statement.  But, what do I know.

I think Walkerman posted it the best way. Besides not wanting to tread on political view on this forum, it's art. Each person can get what they want out of it and best presented with no comment. And it has been interesting and revealing to me to see comments. And everyone is right because that's what they see in it. Well most people.... I see Buck and country music. American and over the top? Well yea, home of Hollywood. I think Larrivee's inlays, to me, an American, have a French bent to them. But Canadians know more about the French-Canadian label. I liked Duck's straight up honest answer and I did detect some of the smugness from the north. :) , as I understand the over the top. But for Canadians who might think the sound doesn't matter? This isn't a hundred dollar pink guitar for a teen girl. Also makes me want to ask how curling went for you in Korea? Sound matters. There are subtle American tribute guitars out there. Martin's bicentennial model is a beauty with small eagle on headstock and small star fret markers. Not for me but everyone is right, just because that's what they see.

If you want to know what JCL thinks, think streets of Bakersfield.

The story is, Larrivee sells a ton of guitars in Asia ..... mostly top of the line models.

And that is the OM version - there is a row of OM's (bottom) and a row of L's (top ) in Walkerman's original picture in this post...

I count 7 of each - so if it was a custom run of 6, are the Larrivee's keeping one of each?

When we were there a short while back these were in process. Jean toured us around the shop, and my wife, who is French, born and raised, immediately exclaimed “Bleu, Blanc, Rouge!” But she could be wrong. I leave it to the experts here to decipher how she saw them.

Anyway, yes, he told us they are mostly going to China, with some excess of the order being sold in the US.  Also that he would never do a paint scheme like that again, it was much more difficult than they bargained for.

Seems I have seen another maker with some entertainer’s endorsement doing the same scheme. I read it as a USA kind of thing.

Yes, but the particular dealer only had 6 of them.  Wonder where the rest are.
