Title: Today was an eighties day...
Post by: headsup on January 18, 2018, 12:00:55 AM
My daily sessions, (which start at about 8:30 AM) over coffee-involve scales, practicing chord inversions and working on material for what ever project is coming up next.

I usually play till noon, bringing various guitars up from my studio, in groups of 2 or 3.
Today, for some reason I had 4 Eighties Larrivee electrics scattered over the couches.

They are so much fun to play. Each one very different from the others.
I'll post a pic and list the models in a day or so, but they are out there to be found on occasion-unless I get to them first! :guitar

here they are;
there was another one, (LS4) but some-one else has it for a trial period.

I think the deep purple one is an LS2 with EMG pups
the white one is a LT1 with single EMG
the other is the flagship original RS4-CM (carved maple top)  with Jean's hand wound pick-ups.

I wish. Instead I stacked two cords of birch. I don't play enough guitar. My buddy and I were in the studio a couple of times last week and that showed clearly.

BIRCH?
that stuff can't keep you warm much less than an hour.
A Thunder bay boy like you knows better than that.
Hickory, Ash, maple & oak keeps you warm.
birch is nice for sparkly fires, wine, and dancing- but it won't keep you warm.

play your guitar!!! THAT will keep you warm.!

Maybe but that stuff doesn't grow around here. At least, not in any abundance. I can't imagine what it would cost to import it. Probably as much as a guitar. It's so cold here the last few days that almost nothing will keep you warm. Even the lake is groaning and moaning in complaint. Sounds like the voice of God. You'd have to hear it to believe it!

I used to live on a lake many years ago.
in winter, as the deep freeze hit, it would make these incredible loud PONG sounds.
and because it was rural, in dead of night it was like a symphony of loud PONGS and rumbles.
 almost spooky!

Imagine how much louder the big lake is. Plus it's dead quiet here. Deafening silence.
