Hello Forum members! I am contemplating getting a Tonewood Amp and am wondering if anyone has used one with their Larrivee. The reviews are favorable and the portability obvious, just wondering if anyone has firsthand experience.
Thanks,
Bruce

HI...
I have the ToneWood Amp for My Larrivée LV-03 RE and it works perfectly.
The Tonewood Amp braces is easy to install next to Larrivée X Bracing. The unit should be sitting about 2 inches from the guitar's end.
I've installed mine centered since the X bracing is quite equal.
For a hybrid scallop bracing, I guess it would depend if you favor the treble or bass side.
Have had an "extra" Tonewood brace in my L03W since March, so I can switch between a couple guitars. Yes, it was an easy placement of the brace, and the Tonewood Amp (TWA) does as advertised. I'm currently trying the DiMarzio DP138 (vs. the Fishman Neo-D in the TWA package) with the TWA on the Larrivee...and then of course, which setting gives me the effect I'm looking for--as the L03W is always in DADGAD.
Do they have any negative effect on tone when installed but not used?

Very good question, I too, am contemplating purchasing one and I mostly play straight acoustic these days and not through any electronics so this is a point of interest to me as well.
I don't see any used ones for sale, and that is an indication that most people probably like them...
Sorry, guys, it's been a while since I've browsed the forum.
The X-brace has no discernable effect that I can hear staying in the guitar when not in use. I actually thought it provided a little more "density" to my 12 fret slope dred (the other guitar that I use with the TWA). FYI: chorus is now available for the TWA, and can be swapped in--most players choosing to drop the Overdrive (which puts you in the electric guitar world).
