Title: On Board Preamp D-09.
Post by: jim51956 on January 23, 2017, 12:15:29 AM
Hello. I have a general question re my on board guitar preamp. It is a facory installed LR Baggs. The on board guitar preamp is powered by a 9v battery. When the 1/4 instrument cable is inserted to the guitar jack on the guitar does that immediately put a load on the guitar preamp battery?  Or is there some other phenomenom that has to occur in order to drain the battery? If yes.....Is this consistent for all guitars powered in this manner or is there some kind of battery saver short of pulling the plug from the guitar input?

Thanks

Almost all guitar electronics are powered up when a 2 conductor 1/4 inch plug is inserted into the guitar's output jack. It, internally to the jack, completes the power circuit to ground allowing the electronics to power up.  You must unplug either the plug or the battery to keep it powered down...   Sorry.
