Even with the wonderz of the internetz living up here in the "great" white north we're often way behind on getting reliable info on hardware.
My preference is to hear from people who have actually used a piece of gear - that's one of the reasons I like this forum.
Outside of larriveeforum.com, where do people go for reliable reviews?
Good question, I used to go to harmony central. I've been happy with my setup for some time now, so haven't been there lately. What are you interested in?
Talk to the local repair guy's as they see a lot of stuff.
I always just type into Google the "thing in question" and reviews. Usually get more than I bargain for.

It's the
more than I bargained for I'm getting tired of. Especially when google places all of the paid responses ahead of everything else.
In the synth/audio world I find this site great for quick overviews of whats up:
http://www.macmusic.org/home/?lang=en Is there something similar for acoustic stringed instruments?

Very true - but they can only see the stuff that is brought to them?
I do lots of reading so I can be helpful.

unclrob - you are always helpful!
But what I'm searching for is more of an aggregator - a function that would be a waste of your talents.
Perhaps the nature of acoustic guitars precludes them from the sort of online effort that exists for digital denizens of the internetz - like
