Title: Taylor Expression 2 system - pretty impressed
Post by: rockstar_not on September 22, 2015, 02:46:59 AM
Some may have read that I won a Taylor 414ce in a drawing at Guitar Town back in August.  It has the Taylor Expression 2 system on-board.  I've finally had a chance to plug it in and do some recording last night.  I had the bass, treble and volume controls set at their detented positions, and I must say that simultaneous recording with the ElectroVoice PL80 mic that I often use for quick and dirty, kill most of the room acoustics recordings.

I'll try to post something soon.  I want to also do a recording with my CAD M-177 LDC.  I should have an A/B/C comparison soon.

Very happy with the EXP2 system in the 414ce..Last night I had my first opportunity to try this system in a rather challenging environment.  We are  doing an "in the round" setup this weekend, I'm the 2nd acoustic, capo on 5th fret for the whole set.  Out in front of the mains.  Rehearsal last night involved zero eq adjustment, direct from guitar into a DI box and out of the mains came what sounded like a well mic'ed acoustic guitar.  Plug and chug.  I will see if I can get some recording snippets off the board to post.

By all means, share. I have a 2010 Taylor 12 Fret with electronics I've never been able to dial in recording straight to my Line 6 box. Or maybe it's just that I've never bonded to the thing, I dunno. The piezo sound just never goes away.
