Title: Pickguard for Bakersfield Mini in Neck
Post by: tulk1 on August 27, 2015, 10:07:53 AM
Anyone have the scoope` on what pickguard to order if I want to put a Mini-bucker in the neck pos of my Bakersfield? And where to order it from? Just thinking it's time for a bit 'o change from the S/S. And really wanted the MH when I got it.

And because I haven't been posting much lately:

You could try contacting Larrivee directly - they might sell you one.

Or you could go to somewhere like Warmoth, but it might be hard to insure that the cutout for the pickup is in the correct location (if Larrivee routes the body ONLY for a mini - if it's routed for a full-size hum bucker in the neck, you'd probably be okay "ordering blind").

Hey Mikey,

Yeah, it's a swimming pool route. They did that for ease of swapping pups. Even uses the SD Liberator so all you have are screw connections. Just wondering about that 5 screw PG, tho. I may look at Warmoth. Just thought someone here, as few as there are now, may have done it.

If I recall, getting LV to respond to an email was a bit tricky. Didn't the subject line have to be very specific? And not necessarily about, say, a pickguard?

Just took a look at Warmoth. Excellent. They can do the 5 hole, with mini-route. And very reasonable, too. Just have to figure out the depth. I think it's .09 rather than .06.

I would suggest contacting Larrivee directly or

https://cherokeeguitar.com/shop/

I know Cherokee has carried them in the past and might be able to get you one even if it isn't listed. Keep in mind they're probably a little pricey regardless of where you get a Larrivee guard from because they're Bakelite and hand painted.

The pickup route isn't necessarily a "pool" route. It's a custom shaped route made to fit either a mini bucker or a traditional tele neck pickup. Any other pickup would require some routing.

Never did get a reply from Larrivee. Not unusual, at least not for me. And not complaining, just saying. May just go the aftermarket route and see what that gets me.

No, I didn't. Didn't know that was an option.
