Title: "Twang" on high E string
Post by: tpoint on February 18, 2015, 09:32:57 PM
Hey guys, I have a D02 that I've had for a few months. I put a Colosi bone saddle in right after I bought it, and took it to a luthier for set up. He sanded saddle down and adjusted neck. It has been perfect up until this week. High E string all of a sudden developed a twangy, metallic sound. I figured string was dead, and it was time for a string change anyway. So I replaced them, but still having this problem. Any suggestions?

Check your neck relief. If you live where its all of a sudden gotten real cold and you put on the heat that will happen.

Also check your tuning machines to make  the nuts around the tuning posts are snug.  It could be as simple as a barely loose washer sympathetically vibrating at that frequency.

Good luck
