Title: NGD Goodall content
Post by: 247hoopsfan on September 26, 2014, 02:20:18 AM
I had a deal too good to pass up and picked up this 1990 Goodall Rosewood Standard today.  Deep lush tone much like my Larrivee JCL 40th Anniversary Edition.  It has a K&K pickup which sounds great plugged in.

The specs are Sitka spruce over Rosewood, Koa bindings (very nice), the fancy abalone/pearl headstock and abalone fret markers and rosette.  It has a comfy 1 3/4" nut.  The sound hole label gives the date of birth as 5/15/1990.  I am set up to do a gig with my son tonight in Carmel, CA.  I just got it yesterday and brought it down to Carmel last night.  My son happened to notice the date in the sound hole, which happens to be his birthday!  Pretty cool...but now he thinks it should be his birthday present.  But he already has an L05-MT, and I have "given" my OM05-MT to his lovely wife.  So he'll have to wait for the Goodall, along with my JCL and D10 Brazilian.

I will say that the sustain of the Goodall is better than any guitar I have played.  You can feel every note vibrate through the body as you play it.  Now I have to visit Jim Goodall in Fort Bragg.  It is only 2 hours from my house.  I have met Jean, Wendy and Matt Larrivee, so it would be nice to add another world class luthier to my friend list.

:humour:  I'll call you "dad" and you can call me "son" if you will give me a nice guitar....  :humour:

Thanks for the specs... what's the scale length?  How about "Grandpa"?    BobW...  :guitar

Bob, scale length is 25.5".  Other specs are 16" lower bout, 12" upper bout, and 11 3/8" waist.
She's a big girl.    Kind of an expanded L  Larrivee.
BTW, you will have to stand in line behind my 5 kids for my Larrivees!  My youngest is the only one who really plays, but 3 of the others are leftys, so maybe that explains it....
