Title: So I walk into the local pawn shop...
Post by: Mikeymac on August 15, 2014, 09:44:10 AM
...the other day, and go in the guitar room. He doesn't usually have any decent lefties (maybe one Squier or MIM Strat or Tele all beat to crap)...

But some local lefty player lost about 5-6 guitars he had pawned, a nice USA Tele and a nice CAR USA Strat (very tempting, but I know I don't like the necks...)...

... and what's this? A lefty RS-2 in natural (or amber?) gloss with cream P-90s?!?!? It looks just like mine, except that mine is satin (the first satin RS-2) and I've changed my covers to black...

I didn't take it down and play it (didn't have time).  But I couldn't believe it, in a town the size of Omaha - another lefty RS-2 almost identical to mine. I had to force myself to leave, arguing with myself that I absolutely don't need another RS-2 (even though I've got a couple extra Larrivee P-90's in the drawer, and I'd like to have one with 3 pups on it...)!

Have you ever seen a Larrivee in the pawn shop? A while back this same place had a nice (righty) OM-09. They're always asking WAY TOO MUCH money for their (usually pathetic) guitars and amps. They initially come down a little bit on the price pretty quickly, then you really have to haggle with them.  Kinda like buying a new/used car. I used to hate that - now I kinda like the process (especially when I can point out flaws and reasons they're out of their mind with their asking price).

not too long ago a guy posted a picture of a stunning RS4 he got in a pawn shop for $500.
I think some -one around here can find that post, maybe a mod or some-one?
I recall it was new, still had the packing stuff on the machine heads.
of course, I could be wrong on this.
But ya I've seen Larrivee's in Canadian pawn shops, in fact my Brazillian C-09 I bought in a Pawn shop .

Hmmm. I'm still waiting for my first rodeo and a great guitar, as a steal, in a pawn shop!  :laughin:

the only good thing I got in a pawn shop was  an 1860-1890 wade and butcher straight razor with ivory scales. haggled from 75$ and snapped that sucker for 50$. been offered 300$ by the guy who honed it for me.

now, just need to get that c series presentation larrivee with ivory bridge I keep seeing pics of...   :humour:
