Title: Old RS4 parts search
Post by: headsup on July 30, 2013, 07:40:06 PM
Being the proud owner of possibly the BEST electric guitar ever made ( a current flamed maple capped tobacco burst RS4 with ML pups), I also own it's mate in the P90 model, AND not one- but TWO older eighties RS4's CM (carved maple).

After lots of asking, researching on line, talking to fellow forum members, it has become pretty clear, that although about 7,000 electric guitars ( and basses) were made in the mid eighties, finding ANY parts, hardware etc., is pretty much impossible.

Recently I called the Vancouver shop, and spoke to John Jr., who re-iterated the fact that they've moved a couple times, and well, they got nothing.

I must admit, as manufacturers of guitars, and particularly with those kinds of numbers, I find it odd that there is no trace, no extra boxes, drawers, what ever, somewhere of extra odds & ends of what guitar building is about.

Unless of course the efficiency of the time was so staggeringly perfect, they just used up every single cover plate, pick-ups, water-slide logo, toggle switch and that's that.

Maybe some repair shops in Europe (where these guitars were particularly popular) bought the extra stock up. Regardless, if anybody out there has any knowledge of any old RS4 parts; please  share the information with us owners who are always in need of some part or other.

Thanks much.
