Title: New L-03 Re going out of tune quickly
Post by: RonRs on August 10, 2012, 12:03:01 AM
Hi

I purchased an L-03 re about 2 or 3 months ago and love it! It stays in tune at home but today I played in an old church and it wasn`t really warm or anything but it was going out of tune and I had to re-tune it a few times...would it be a good idea for me to change to a bone saddle and maybe better tuning heads or is it just the wood swelling from humidity?

Thanks

Ron

Ron a couple of questions if I may.Are you under alot of lights or an a/c duct?Has the neck relief changed while you were at the church?Did you just change the strings?

Now a piece of advice if I may bring it by a good tech and have it checked out.I don't think it has anything to do with the guitar but more with the location. When you go from an enviroment controled location to someplace that isn't then I would put it down to the elements creating havic with the strings, more sweat on your hands.I could be wrong but I can't see it being the tuners or the saddle.

I have been experiencing some tuning issues as of late that are caused from my strap being attached to the headstock. As much as I prefer this method of strap attachment I may have to install a strap pin on the neck heal to avoid this.

Another thing that you should do is allow the guitar to acclimate to the environment before you even TRY to tune it. When the temperature is stable the guitar is ready to be tuned up and if it holds its tune at home it will in the new conditions.

I mentioned the strap issue above because I thought maybe you might be using a strap playing out but not at home.

Nah it's not the strap attachment.

It's the lack of gloss: makes the guitar feel naked and shy   :bgrin:
