Title: De-glossing the Neck
Post by: webberink on July 29, 2010, 02:51:06 PM
Recently I picked up a 2009 P-03R from a Forum member.  It's the first 03 model Larrivee I have owned and a dozen years newer than my other Larrivees which are all 09 models.  I kinda like the 03 satin finish on the neck of the new girl.  Didn't think I would but there you go.  Has anyone fooled around with deglossing the neck of an older Larrivee?  I would be interested if you have, why you did it and how you went about it ... and the results of course.

I haven't done it on a larrivee but have on other gloss guitars. Just run some 0000 steel wool with moderately light pressure for a few swipes. It will remove the tacky feel and feel real close to a satin finish. Eventually the neck will become gloss again and you'll have to repeat the process.
