Title: Installing a pickguard
Post by: chomos on February 06, 2009, 03:32:02 PM
I'm a newbie guitar player (learner?), relatively new to the forum and just purchased a mostly new L-O3R from a fellow forumite (thanks MJ!). I have the original PG that came on the guitar and my question is: can that be re-installed or do I need to buy a new one with the adhesive backing? I searched some of the threads for installing PGs but they mostly dealt with new ones. This is a great place with incredible information--thanks to everyone for their insights!  :donut :donut2 :donut :donut2 :coffee

This a tortoise shell type pickguard right? If so you can buy adhesive sheets for installing the pickguard. http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Pickguards/Pickguard_adhesive.html

You should be able to clean up the back of the pickguard with some naptha.

By the time you do that and order sheets, buy naptha and pay postage, it might be worthwhile to just buy one for $16 of the larrivee site. Plus you don't have to worry about whether or not the original has warped.
