Title: Bread's guitars
Post by: Zohn on January 17, 2009, 12:20:46 AM
Remember them? David Gates and James Griffon were probably of the best writers of all time, and it was one of my favourite groups as well. I'm intrigued as to what acoustics they used. I know they used Les Pauls exclusively - but so did just about everybody else in the 70's. Anyone out there know about the acoustics?

Takes me back to high school. I recall seeing them play Ovations because that was one of the guitars of choice in the 70's for many artists. I used to have an Ovation 12 string and a catalog and was amazed at the number of artists endorsements. I found an Ovation ad featuring David Gates/Jimmy Griffon on e-bay. I think JG died a couple of years ago.

Thanx TEH,
I reminisced over their music again earlier this morning -  Diary, Let your love go, Guitar man, Sweet surrender, Everything I own - timeless stuff ...
