Title: Highlander Pickups
Post by: 12barBill on August 17, 2004, 04:59:52 PM
Is anyone familiar with the Highlander acoustic guitar pickup?

It's an under saddle, active pickup. The preamp is made into the endpin jack. Class A preamp - very good signal to noise ratio.

A good guitarist at a Larrivee dealer told me he put one in his Larrivee guitar (didn't say what model but I'm thinking D03R from a previous conversation) and it turned out very, very good. He said he heard one in a friend's Larrivee guitar and that's what sold him on it. "Fantastic", he said.

Anyone had any experience with them?

Yes - they're great pickups, but somewhat more difficult to install because you have to route a channel for the pickup in the bridge directly under the saddle so protect the transducer from compression.  However, the result is probably the most natural sounding under-saddle transducer available.
