Title: Wil Maring and Robert Bowlin
Post by: jimmyd on September 15, 2007, 05:23:20 PM
Just saw these two last Thursday. Wil is a wonderful singer/songwriter and a fine rythmn player.  Robert's playing is as good as it gets. His accompanyment was stellar. His solo work  was jaw dropping. Fingerstyle, flatpicking, gypsy jazz, and more all played flawlessly. Oh yeah, he also played beautiful fiddle as well.  Says he stopped touring with all the instruments he plays as it's too much equipment to haul around. I spoke with him after the show. He is a really humble, nice guy. I found out that he also restores violins  and guitars part time.  This guy is one of those people flying under the radar with a remarkable career. They have several cuts on you tube. It's well worth checking out.

Never saw Gordon Lightfoot, but I remember walking past Massey Hall when I was a kid and seeing his name up above the door when he used to do his week long runs there ... is he still doing them?  Always loved his music and his Live in Reno DVD just arrived today, so you can imagine what I am doing tonight  :beer :guitar
