Title: General string question
Post by: jeremy3220 on November 22, 2006, 10:45:17 PM
I was restringing my guitar tonight and I always bend the string near the ball end before I insert it in the bridge. Well the unwound strings always seem more stiff and tonight I broke one part of the string (a "b" string) where it winds and doubles around itself. It cracked, I guess all the way through (one string) but it seemed intact so I strung it up. Now I'm wondering if it will eventually give way. Should it be fine or will it probably unwind itself? I figured if it's a given that it will come apart, I'd go ahead and remove it rather than get a nice surprise while I'm playing. I feel like I'm playing a Jack In the Box.

Strings snapping freak me out...I'd change it before it goes.

well I put it on wednesday and it's still holding so I think it will be okay. Maybe the pin is helping hold it together too.
