Title: acoustic amps(roland ac 60 vs ultrasound ag 50 ds3
Post by: markanthony on April 04, 2006, 12:12:53 PM
I will start off by saying I really like the sound of the roland ac 60 and almost bought it several times, but I keep hearing about ultrasound amps. There are no ultrasound dealers in my area so I have never tried one.If anyone has tried these amps please give input.

can't help you out much with the roland, but i have a ag50ds3 and it's incredible. sold a fender acoustasonic to buy it and the difference was amazing.  i can get almost the same tone out of my ultrasound that i get plugging straight into the board.  the effects are good if you use them sparingly.  any effect turned up past 3-4 starts to sound a little funky to me.
hope this helps.
good luck

I don't own either amp, but my experience playing with others that do is that the Ultrasound is a much better amp, IMHO. The Roland sounds a bit thin in comparison.

YMMV
