HP scanners with slide/negative attachment

I bought a pretty decent HP scanner a while back because I thought it was neat that they did slides and negatives.....I just got around to trying it out that way.....what a joke......the images are terrible.....why do they even bother.

I don't know what the resolution of the device is you bought or what you're trying to make slides of. But you might try HP customer support and see if there is something they can do adjustment-wise to improve the situation.

I've never tried what your doing, but I know that for some scans, putting the scanner in slower, high dot resolution is necessary.

I have a Minolta slide/film scanner like the one in the links below (except previous model, III).  They are great for what you want to do.

I have the same scanner or I should say my wife does.  I just dug it out to do some slides.  It doesn't work?   I use a regular HP scanner and its great.

I need the slide thing though.........!!!!!!!!!

it works, it's just that by the time you bring them up to size they are so grainy, it's not worth the effort.....
The also come out very dark and you have to do a lot of tweaking (which would be no problem if they
looked OK.     I may have to try another group of slides and see.  Maybe the ones I tried are part of the problem.
The "Help" tab on the Imaging Director Software doesn't give any tips on changing scan speed etc like RR mentioned above.

Maybe I can scan into Photoshop to take care of that.  Rats.  I need good repros.

My dedicated slide scanner that I mentioned above scans at 2800dpi to allow for the the necessary enlargement without graininess.  Before I got it, I got some pretty good slide scans on a flat-bed scanner by boosting the scan resolution  up as far as possible.  Look for a way to boost the resolution value in your scanner software.
